Key Audio Visual trends – The latest trends in the market place
AuDeo’s Technical Director, Ian Hancey, provides us with an update on the latest Audio Visual trends and shares his views with us…
Productivity & Efficiency
Ian explains that our main focus should be on achieving better productivity and efficiency from meeting rooms. From moving technologies to the Cloud to equipping smaller meeting spaces and huddle rooms, we should be focussing on using technology in our meeting rooms to help improve productivity.
A lot of what we see in the industry is technology focussed; solutions based on the room and what you should be wanting to do in that room, rather than on the activities that you want to achieve as a business and improving your productivity.
Ian emphasises that it is important to choose the right technology to meet your requirements by focussing on your activities and your desired outcomes rather than just the technology and the products.
Video Conferencing is moving to the Cloud
We all know that in recent years our IT services/solutions have been steadily moving to the Cloud. Everything from phone systems, to file storage and even CRM and finance solutions. Ian points out that Video Conferencing is no different. Ian says that we are now seeing a massive move of Video Conferencing to the Cloud, it’s everywhere. He points out that pretty much all the video conferencing vendors now have a Cloud offering of some description. It’s just a question of deciding which service is best for you.
Audio Visual trends for 2019 – 4k Video Conferencing is on the way
For a while there has been a lot of hype about 4k Video Conferencing. LifeSize being the most notable providers. 4K is all around us, on Netflix, Youtube, Amazon, and even on YouTube Live. But unless you’ve got a great broadband connection and top-of-the-range software & equipment, then it won’t mean anything to you. Two-way video calls in 4k are out of reach for most of us today, but the promise of 4k is there and Ian points out that it could be useful in many areas of business such as health, entertainment, manufacturing or retail.
Wireless Presentation is now widespread in function & price
Wireless presentation has been around for a while now. Wireless presentation solutions are great for providing flexible, fast and easy presentation in your meeting rooms without the need for those messy cables! Ian observes that wireless presentation devices are now widespread both in function and price, again it’s a question of evaluating which is best for you.
Smaller Workspaces & Huddle Rooms – Key Audio Visual trends
Huddle rooms have been a hot topic for a while now. Equipping smaller workspaces with displays, video conferencing and other technology is a great way of encouraging all forms of teamworking and improving productivity. Plus, it frees up larger meeting rooms and boardrooms for those all-important meetings. Ian explains that we are seeing vendors targeting the Smaller Workspaces such as Huddle Rooms, for their devices.
Interactive Displays with touch-aware applications
Displays are becoming Increasingly interactive with touch-aware applications such as VC, OneNote & SPAN. Interactive displays running appropriate apps allow people to work in a much more natural way. Ian reminds us that today’s younger generations have grown up with interactive technology, it’s how they work and it is what they expect.
These are some of the interesting new Products that Ian has recently come across:
A great little product to enhance your StarLeaf room systems. Simply connect Pronto to your laptop computer and your screen is instantaneously shared with the room so that you are ready to present immediately. Your StarLeaf meetings are also synchronized with the room system allowing you to join with one touch.

Nureva has added Active Zone Control to the Microphone Mist technology platform that powers its HDL300 and Dual HDL300 audio conferencing systems. This feature gives users a new level of control over the thousands of virtual microphones that fill a space and provide full-room audio coverage. Using a simple, visual interface in Nureva Room Manager software, IT staff can designate a zone within the room to be optimised for audio pickup.
